Buffalo Swimmer Competes in Seattle

Eleven year-old Gunnar Poley, a Buffalo Swim Club member, recently traveled to Federal Way, Washington to compete in the Northwest Age Group Swimming Championships.

This is the highest level of competition that an age group swimmer can achieve and swimmers must meet qualifying times in order to compete in the meet, according to mom April Poley.

She said Over 1,300 swimmers competed at the King County Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center, which is the host for the 2012 Olympic Diving Trials in June.

Gunnar qualifed for five freestyle events in the 50, 100, 200, 500 yard, and mile.

Report from SC Rodeo coach Marc Gilkerson:

This past weekend the Sheridan College Rodeo team traveled to Torrington, WY for our third college rodeo.

We had a good showing by many of our rodeo athletes, we are steadily improving and gaining confidence.

The men’s team was led again by Matt Schieck, Matt and his partner Kelsey Scott from Chadron, NE placed second in the first round of the team roping with a time of 6.8 seconds.

They roped their steer in the short round in 7.0 seconds placing second in the short round and second in the average.



BIG HORN RAMS FOOTBALL - Last Friday Sheridan County School District 1 announced the hiring of Micheal McGuire as the next Head football coach at Big Horn high school.

For the last couple of year McGuire has been an assistant on Don Julian's staff at Sheridan high school.

McGuire has Head coaching experience leading the program at Riverside before coming to Sheridan and says he loves coaching and wanted to get back to being a Head coach.

Buffalo Gymnasts Perform Well at Cheyenne Meet

 Marissa Harriet, Mallory Capron and Gracie Meachum took the Level 9 State Champ
Amanda Pugh, Skylar Parrot and Erica Little were runners-up in Level 5.

Girls from Summit Gymnastics in Buffalo attended the State Meet in Cheyenne March 24 and came home with 10 State Champions in different events.

Three girls, Marissa Harriet, Mallory Capron and Gracie Meachum took the Level 9 State Championship.

Amanda Pugh, Skylar Parrot and Erica Little were runners-up in Level 5.

Anna Capron took fifth place in All-Around for Level 7.

The team took second place in the state at the meet.

April 9th

Bison Shut Out Bearcats 6-0

The Bison soccer team hosted Douglas Monday night and shut the Bearcats out 6-0.

Buffalo scored in the first minute of the game, the 13th minute and in the 29th, 47th, 66th and 72nd minutes as well.

The Bison had 16 shots on goal to Douglas' 4. Buffalo had a 3-0 corner kick advantage and had 4 saves to the Bearcats' 8.

No score is available from the girls game yet.

Next up for both teams is Newcastle on Friday. The girls will be on the road while the boys will host the Dogies.



BRONC / LADY BRONC SOCCER - The Sheridan soccer teams will be in Gillette for matches Friday the Lady Broncs are leading the league with a 4-0 record and are 9-0 overall and ranked number one in the 4-A soccer poll this week.

The Broncs are locked in a tight battle in league play, Head coach Kevin Riser says Friday's match in Gillette is a big one for the Broncs.

Johnson County HS Teams Resume Seasons This Week

High school sports teams from Buffalo and Kaycee will resume their schedules beginning today after taking the Easter Holiday weekend off.

Buffalo's soccer teams are ranked in the top five this week, with the Bison ranked #1 in 3A with a 5-0-1 record, and the girls sitting at #2 in 3A with a 2-4 overall record.

Both teams will be in action today with the Bison hosting the Douglas Bearcats and the Lady Bison on the road at Douglas. Game times are at 4 and 6pm in both Douglas and Buffalo.

April 6th


BRONC / LADY BRONC SOCCER - The Sheridan soccer teams are off until next Friday when the Broncs and Lady Broncs get back into conference play with matches in Gillette.

The Lady Broncs are 9-0 and ranked number one in the 4-A it's been a two year journey for the team to get to this point, Head coach Tom Racette.

Racette the players have put in the time to make the turn around possible.

Johnson County's High School Athletes Off For Holiday

High school sports teams from Buffalo and Kaycee have this Easter Weekend off, but will resume their schedules next week.

Buffalo's soccer teams are coming off matches with Sheridan last Tuesday, where the girls fell 3-0 to the Lady Broncs and the boys finished n a 2-2 tie with the Broncs.

The Bison are still ranked #1 in 3A with a 5-0-1 record, while the girls have moved to #2 in 3A despite the loss to Sheridan and a 2-4 overall record.

SHERIDAN COLLEGE ATHLETICS - We highlight Sheridan college athletics today with several events coming up over the next eight weeks.

Starting with the annual Sheridan college booster club golf tournament at the Powder Horn on May 18th men's basketball coach and AD Steve Smiley.

At the end of May youth sports camps begin with the first of two Lady Generals volleyball camps.

In June they host the boys and girls basketball camps that are open to all kids in Sheridan county.
