Wild Day For Local High School Football

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL- The Sheridan Broncs and Gillette Camels were involved in a classic came Friday night at Homer Scott Stadium. The Broncs lead 3-0 at the half before both offenses exploded in the second half as the Camels edged the Broncs in overtime by a final of 27-24. The loss is the first of the season for the Broncs as they now sit at 4-1 on the season. The Broncs will travel to play Laramie next Friday night. The Big Horn Rams continue to steamroll through the 2A as they clobbered Glenrock 46-0.

STATE GOLF / REGIONAL TENNIS START TODAY HIGHLIGHT THE WEEKEND SPORTS SCENE

4-A STATE GOLF - The Sheridan high school golfers will close out their fall season this week at the 4-A state championships at Bell Knob golf course in Gillette.

The Broncs are considered one of the favorites to contend for the state championship Head coach Larry Martoglio says the Broncs have plenty of competition.

2-A STATE GOLF - The Big Horn and Tongue River golfers will open the first round of the 2-A state tournament in Lusk today.

Broncs set to host the Camels in the "Energy Bowl" Friday night

BRONC FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Bronc football team will host Gillette tomorrow night the Broncs are 4-0 the Camels are 3-1 and winners of three straight since a season opening loss against Evanston.

This is a big one for the Broncs as they look to keep their playoff position and get ready to face their biggest rival Head coach Don Julian.

Austin Woodward named finalist for National Football Foundation award

The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the names of the 31 finalists for the 2010 NFF High School National Scholar-Athlete Awards, which will honor one young man from each of the 5 regions of the country, as the best and the brightest for their accomplishments as athletes, scholars and citizens at the high school level.

The five winners, who are now playing college football but are being recognized for their previous accomplishments in high school, will be announced the week of October 4.

The Bronc Golfers set to tee it up at the state championships

SHS STATE GOLF - The Sheridan high school golfers will close out their fall season this week at the 4-A state championships in Gillette.

he Broncs have won every tournament this fall and Head coach Larry Martoglio says it's been a pleasure to watch the Broncs play this fall.

The top five Broncs have placed in the top ten in each tournament, team member Cameron Lindell says the Broncs have used the motivation of winning at state title to drive them this fall.

The Sheridan College Booster club hosts a fan BBQ tonight and a big week ahead on the local sports scene

LADY RAMS VOLLEYBALL - The Big Horn Lady Rams volleyball team split weekend matches Head coach Jamie Harvey says even though they lost one it was a good road trip.

They have the lead in the conference regular season race right now and Harvey says they players continue to work hard to improve their play.

The Lady Rams will play at the Casper invitational tournament this weekend where they will get a chance to play against bigger schools and they love the
challenge.
