February 28th

TONGUE RIVER LADY EAGLES vs. ROCKY MOUNTAIN

The Lady Eagles defeated the Rocky Mountain Lady Grizzlies with a final score of 49 to 33!!!

SHERIDAN BRONCS vs. CHEYENNE SOUTH

The Sheridan Broncs lost to Cheyenne South tonight with a final score of 70 to 57.

February 27th

STATE / REGIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT OPENERS

STATE TOURNAMENT BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Lady Rams open state tournament this morning at 10:30 at Casper college against Thermopolis that game will be broadcast live for you on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM.

The Rams take on Big Piney that game will follow the Lady Rams at noon live on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM.

The Tongue River Lady Eagles open up tonight at 6:00 against Rocky Mountain that game will be live on 87.7 FM.

4-A REGIONAL BASKETBALL - The Sheridan Broncs will be in Gillette tonight for the 4-A East regional they play Cheyenne South tonight at 5:30 in a loser out game.

Weekend Sports Preview For Johnson County

Winter sports are beginning to wrap up with only basketball still competing. The 1A State Tournament in Casper and the 3A Regional Tournament in Worland will begin today and continue through the weekend.

Buffalo and Kaycee will both be represented this weekend.

February 26th

STATE INDOOR TRACK / STATE / REGIONAL HOOPS

The Bronc and Lady Bronc indoor track teams will compete in the state indoor meet in Gillette Friday and Saturday.

Head coach Art Bauers says expectations are high for the athletes this week.

Points are not kept at meets during the regular season but they will be counted this week and we asked Bauers if that helps out the athletes as they get ready to compete.

And finally he says they are looking for great effort this week and they'll just see what happens.

RAMS / LADY RAMS READY FOR STATE / EAST 4-A REGIONALS

1-A / 2-A STATE BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Lady Rams are a #2 seed and open the state tournament Thursday morning at 10:30 against #3 seed Thermopolis that game will be live on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM.

Lady Rams Head coach Mike Daley says he likes how the Lady Rams are playing as they get ready for the state tournament.

And Daley talks about the keys to their success in the opener Thursday.

Frank McCarthy named Coach of the Year for Region IX North

(Sheridan, Wyo.) – Sheridan College women’s basketball coach Frank McCarthy has officially been named the 2012-2013 Region IX North Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 22-8 overall record.

McCarthy’s Generals had yet another outstanding season, winning the NJCAA North Sub-Region IX Title for the ninth consecutive season after posting a 13-3 conference record this season.

McCarthy’s team spent six straight weeks on the NJCAA Division I Top 25 list and will look to continue their success at the Region IX Conference Championships in March.

February 24th

4-A REGIONAL / 1-A / 2-A STATE HOOPS THIS WEEK

1-A / 2-A REGIONAL / STATE BASKETBALL - At the 1-A East regional in Douglas the Arvada/Clearmont Lady Panthers won the consolation game and will open the state tournament Thursday morning in Casper at 10:30 vs Little Snake River.

In Dayton in the 2-A East regional the Big Horn Lady Rams and the Tongue River Lady Eagles met in the final with the Lady Eagles coming out on top 45-32.

The Lady Rams open the state tournament Thursday morning at 10:30 against Thermopolis that game will be live on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM.

High School Sports Wrap for Johnson County

Another busy weekend for high school athletes in Johnson County is in the books, and we now have state champions and more hopefuls after this weekend's results.

STATE 1-A / 2-A HOOPS / 4-A REGIONAL HOOPS

The Tongue River Lady Eagles beat Big Horn in the regional title game Saturday 45-32.

Both teams open the state tournament in Casper Thursday at Casper college.

The Big Horn Lady Rams open with Thermopolis at 10:30 AM the Lady Eagles open with Rocky Mountain at 6PM.

The Big Horn Rams beat Moorcroft 56-46 to win the regional title the Rams open the state tournament at noon against Big Piney.

(all three games will be broadcast live in 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM)
