WEEKEND TRACK AND FIELD / SOCCER

TRACK AND FIELD - The Sheridan high school track teams competed at an invitational in Billings Saturday and had some good results.

The highlight came from Bronc distance runner Micheal Rotellini who finished 2nd in the 3200 meters running his fastest time ever and also met the state meet qualifying standards in that event.

Sheridan high school will host two meets this week, the first annual "Gary Benson" Memorial meet will take play tomorrow afternoon at Homer Scott stadium with events getting underway at 2:00.

Track Meet In Glenrock Cancelled, Soccer Still A Go Today

Wyopreps.com is reporting that the Tony Lehner Invitational Track and Field Meet in Glenrock has been cancelled due to weather.

Buffalo Girls Beat Douglas, All Teams Prepare For Weekend

Buffalo's soccer teams both downed their Douglas counterparts in games Monday night. The boys beat the Bearcats at home 6-0 and the girls beat the Lady Bearcats on the road also by a score of 6-0.

The Lady Bison's goals were scored by Kaitlyn Armstrong, assisted by Caley Stafford; Stafford on an assist by Armstrong; Lisa Zezas, assisted by Armstrong; Armstrong unassisted; Olivia Spanos unassisted; and Stafford, assisted by Hanna Peterson.

Goalkeeper Jenna Anderson had four saves for the Lady Bison.

SHERIDAN RECREATION DISTRICT TIME LINE

SHERIDAN RECREATION DISTRICT - The Sheridan Recreation District is gearing up for their summer season.

We take a look at youth and adult summer softball leagues today Recreation Specialist Dale Boedecker says registration for girls youth softball is going on now.

The time line for the adult slow pitch program begins later this month with league play beginning the Tuesday following Memorial day.

Buffalo Swimmer Competes in Seattle

Eleven year-old Gunnar Poley, a Buffalo Swim Club member, recently traveled to Federal Way, Washington to compete in the Northwest Age Group Swimming Championships.

This is the highest level of competition that an age group swimmer can achieve and swimmers must meet qualifying times in order to compete in the meet, according to mom April Poley.

She said Over 1,300 swimmers competed at the King County Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center, which is the host for the 2012 Olympic Diving Trials in June.

Gunnar qualifed for five freestyle events in the 50, 100, 200, 500 yard, and mile.

Report from SC Rodeo coach Marc Gilkerson:

This past weekend the Sheridan College Rodeo team traveled to Torrington, WY for our third college rodeo.

We had a good showing by many of our rodeo athletes, we are steadily improving and gaining confidence.

The men’s team was led again by Matt Schieck, Matt and his partner Kelsey Scott from Chadron, NE placed second in the first round of the team roping with a time of 6.8 seconds.

They roped their steer in the short round in 7.0 seconds placing second in the short round and second in the average.

BIG HORN'S NEW HEAD FOOTBALL COACH / LOCAL TRACK ACTION

NEW RAMS FOOTBALL COACH MICHEAL MCGUIRE

BIG HORN RAMS FOOTBALL - Last Friday Sheridan County School District 1 announced the hiring of Micheal McGuire as the next Head football coach at Big Horn high school.

For the last couple of year McGuire has been an assistant on Don Julian's staff at Sheridan high school.

McGuire has Head coaching experience leading the program at Riverside before coming to Sheridan and says he loves coaching and wanted to get back to being a Head coach.
