March 25th

Johnson County High School Weekend Sports Wrap

Johnson County's high school sports teams were busy this weekend with four soccer matches and a track and field meet.

Friday Buffalo High School hosted the Jerry Campbell Invitational Track and Field Meet, with a number of area teams competing, including Kaycee and Tongue River.

No results from the meet were available as of this morning, abut we will post them when they are released.

The Bison soccer team hosted Powell at Bison Stadium on Friday, downing the Panthers 2-0.

Saturday the boys traveled to Cody and took care of the Broncs 3-1.

Busy High School Sports Weekend Begins Today At BHS

The annual Jerry Campbell Invitational Track Meet, hosted by Buffalo High School will be today at Bison Stadium.

The field events will begin at 10am, running events begin at 11.

Teams scheduled to compete are Arvada-Clearmont, Buffalo, Kaycee, Meeteetse, Midwest, NSI, Tongue River, Worland and Wright.

Bison soccer will also be in action today as the boys host the Powell Panthers. Game times are at 3 and 5.

The girls will be at Powell today with games also scheduled at 3 and 5.

Saturday the girls will host Cody while the boys will play on the road at Cody.

KENDRICK PROFESSIONAL BRIAN JAMES

KENDRICK GOLF COURSE - Kendrick golf course opened this week we sat down with Kendrick golf professional Brian James on a beautiful afternoon Thursday.

James says as soon as they announced the course opening Sheridan golfers were ready. He says the weather has been spectacular and that has helped with an early opening.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL OPENS MONDAY

TROOPERS / JETS BASEBALL - Sheridan American Legion baseball coaches met with players and parents last night as they get ready to open the season Monday.

The Troopers and Jets will take to the field at Thorne-Rider stadium Monday evening, Troopers Head coach Ben Phillips is excited to get this season going as they return several players from a year ago.

Jerry Campbell Invite Friday At Buffalo High School

The annual Jerry Campbell Invitational Track Meet will be hodted by Buffalo High School this Friday at Bison Stadium.

The field events will begin at 10am, running events begin at 11.

So far less than 10 schools have signed up for the meet, but BHS Athletic Director Shad Spilski said more may sign up still, but if not, the event will still be a good one. A number of schools are hosting track events this weekend as well, so schools that normally would be in Buffalo are going to other events, he said.

SPRING SPORTS: THE WEEK AHEAD

TRACK AND FIELD - The 2012 track and field season continues this week with the Broncs and Lady Broncs at the Cody invitational Saturday.

Both teams are coming off solid openers last week at the Natrona county invite Head coach Art Bauers.

And Bauers says it was good to see contributions from some of their younger athletes.

The Big Horn and Tongue River high school track teams are scheduled to compete at the "Jerry Campbell" invitational in Buffalo Friday.

FINDING THE NEXT BRONC BASKETBALL COACH / SPRING SPORTS WEEK TWO

BRONC BASKETBALL - Mike Ibach's resignation as head boys basketball coach at Sheridan school became official yesterday and the search for a new coach is underway as we sat down with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian.

First Julian talks about knowing and coaching along side Ibach at Sheridan high school.

And he knows Ibach made the decision to step down because of family.

Buffalo Track Results From Glen Legler Memorial

Buffalo's track team opened their 2012 season at the Glen Legler Memorial Track Meet in Casper last weekend.
The Bison had some great top-ten finishes from a number of athletes.
Isaac Keifer finished 2nd in the boys' 800 meter run.
Meghan Ramey took 2nd in the girls' 100 hurdles, and 6th in the 300 hurdles.
Hannah Chapin finished 4th in the girls 1,600 meter run.
The girls team finished 13th of 17 teams at the meet. The boys finished tied for 16th.
Next up for the team is the Jerry Campbell Invite this Friday at Buffalo High School.
