THE 81ST SHERIDAN WYO RODEO OPENS A WEEK FROM TODAY

81ST WYO RODEO - The four performances of the 81st WYO rodeo opens on the a week from today.

The week will start with the "Chris Ledoux" golf tournament at the Powder Horn Friday and Saturday, the boot kick off will take place Saturday at Sheridan college.

The first slack performance will be next Tuesday at the Sheridan county fairgrounds.

Yankees win city Babe Ruth title

The Sheridan Yankees took the Sheridan Babe Ruth league regular season title.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL / LOCAL JUNIOR GOLF

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers played eight games last week going 5-3 and having two in Douglas postponed Saturday those game will be made up July 18th.

The Troopers split two with Casper then beat Cody four straight, the night after sweeping the Cubs in Sheridan the Troops routed the Cubs in Cody by scores of 17-0 and 17-2.

Last Friday the they dropped two in Sturgis by scores of 12-7 and 8-7 there game scheduled for Saturday in Douglas were called off by the Cats and rescheduled in two weeks.

Rockies Snap Two-Game Slide

DENVER (AP) - Juan Nicasio allowed three singles over eight innings and Mark Ellis had three hits, including a two-run homer, in his Colorado debut as the Rockies beat the slumping Kansas City Royals 9-0 on Friday night.

Troy Tulowitzki connected on a two-run homer, Todd Helton added a two-run double and pinch-hitter Charlie Blackmon lined the first homer of his major league career - on his 25th birthday, no less - to help the Rockies snap a two-game slide. Nicasio (3-1) struck out four and got the Royals to hit into 16 groundouts. The Royals lost their fourth straight.

GET READY FOR FREEDOM-FEST 2011

FREEDOM-FEST 2011 - The first annual Freedom Fest hosted by the Sheridan Recreation District will be held Monday on the 4th of July at the old Woodland Park school.

Along with Sheridan Media sponsors include Pepsi and Kilpatrick Creations, Rec District Sports Specialist Dale Boedecker talks about how Freedom-Fest came to be.

And dale says the hopes are to make this a yearly
activity.
