Cato's Glow

Smoke from the Cato Fire northeast of Buffalo adds to the orange glow of the setting sun in this photo overlooking Big Horn at 8:38 pm Tuesday.

Cato Fire East of Buffalo

Pictures were taken Tuesday night on Highway 16 near Ucross, looking at the hills just south of the Watt Ranch, except for the smokey Buffalo image, which was taken from a point overlooking Buffalo around dusk.

First 100 @ First Interstate Bank

Sheridan's 100 degrees on Sunday was the first 100 of the year, Monday's 100 set a new record and Tuesday's 102 was 3 degrees below the record of 105 set in 1988. As for Wednesday's forecast of 88 - enjoy the cool down 'cause it won't last - it's back in the 90's for Thursday and beyond.

Lots of Gold to Behold

Looks like all the gold has escaped from The Bank of Sheridan's vault at 1375 Sugarland Drive and is now disguised as "golden" daylilies on the front yard for all to see and enjoy. Did you know that there are over 60,000 registered cultivars of daylilies and that they come in many colors except for pure blue and pure white, which hybridizers are working on?

Ford MacCarty shows how to hit the ball

On Sunday with his team, the Richard Williams & Associates, down 3 to 1 in the second chukker of the K-3 Memorial Cup Ford MacCarty shows how to hit as he moves the ball down the field helping to set up teammate Tom Gose for the score to draw them within one. In the second half the Richard Williams team would outscore the Big Horn Beverage team 5 to 2 to win by a final score of 9 to 6.

The Parkway Motel - gone but not forgotten

As the sunset glow illuminates the top of the flour mill on the first day of summer it serves as a reminder of the sun setting on the Parkway Motel that until this day stood for many years in the now vacant area you see in the foreground. Yes, the Parkway Motel is no more but perhaps the following photos, taken in 2006, will provide a glimpse into what was and bring back memories of the past.
