Snow in May? (updated)

What looks like snow near the Big Horn Mercantile on Johnson Street in Big Horn is actually cotton from the nearby trees. The cotton mixed in with a few dandelion seeds gets moved by the wind and piled up in the new grown grass giving the illusion of "Snow in May." And to think this chilly looking photo was taken when the temperature was near Wednesday's expected high of 81 degrees.

31 Consecutive Victories

The Sheridan Bronc golf team racked up their 31st consecutive victory at the Sheridan E. R. "Scoop" Shovlain Invitational at the Kendrick Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday.

Special Olympic Torch In Buffalo

The Special Olympic Torch passed through Buffalo around noon on Monday on its way to the State Summer Games in Laramie this weekend. The torch was scheduled to pass through Kaycee later in the day. From left, Buffalo's Jacob Thomson and Austin Leis and Sheridan's Jackie Santistevan participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Prom 2012 - One Night Only

The young, being young at heart and kicking up their heels at Prom 2012 Saturday night. If I counted correctly there were 271 students involved in the grand march and many more who helped the prom run smoothly, i.e. Co-sponsors LaDonna Leibrich, Heidi Richins and Junior Class President Jin Kim along with countless others. Now let's see what next year's junior class can do.

National Nurses Week @ the Sheridan VA Hospital

National Nurses Week began May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday - May 12, 1820. At the Sheridan VA Hospital on Fort Mackenzie Monday afternoon three local nurses out of the 77,000 nurses nationwide that care for American's Veterans received National Recognition.

Behold the Queen & King

At 8:15 pm Saturday Karsyn Lamb and Drew Adriaens were crowned Queen & King of the 2012 Sheridan High School Prom - a prom that included Fort Mackenzie. Prior to the crowning and announcement of royalty, 271 students entered the filled to capacity main gymnasium, mostly as couples, to proudly parade before the audience before taking their seats in the center.

King Arthur Visits Buffalo

Friday evening and again Saturday afternoon, local kids from kindergarten through high school presented the Missoula Children's Theatre's production of King Arthur's Quest at the Buffalo High School Auditorium.

The local kids involved in the play auditioned Monday and spent the week rehearsing each night after school in preparation for the two performances.

25-hours before the "Supermoon"

At 9:34 pm in Sheridan on Saturday the moon will be the closest to the earth making it appear about 14 percent larger than when it is the farthest from us.
