Recently while at the Kendrick Municipal Golf Course I overheard several employees talking about the lack of response from the Mayor and his Staff at City Hall over their building request for the Martin House at the golf course. Hearing this I quickly investigated and now understood the need for the construction improvement permit.
In May 2010 the Town of Ranchester was awarded a Wyoming Business Council Community Development Block Grant and Business Ready Communities Grant for the Ranchester Entry Rehabilitation Plan. Fast forward two years: the then proposed visitors center sketches and plans are now a reality, thanks to many including KWN Construction.
The Dayton Bell Tower that has stood since 1909 still stands but around 9:00 pm Saturday, May 26, 2012 it fell victim to a "Hit and Run" according to the Sheridan County Sheriffs Daily Law Incident Summary Report. This was followed later with a Sheridan County Sheriff's Arrest of a Jonathan Robert Melville - 18 - of Ranchester for DWUI, Leaving Accident . . . Arrested by SCSO.
The State Farm Wyoming Cup, which is the youth soccer championships for Wyoming was won by the Sheridan U12 Boys Silver Division and they won the Gold medal. The Championship was held in Casper this past weekend.
Flowers remain by the grave markers on the far left while the National Flag on the pole to the left of Aaron Davis has been raised to full staff. Notes of "Amazing Grace" still flow from Aaron's bagpipes near the exit of Sheridan's Municipal Cemetery at the 12 o'clock hour.
Beneath the high flying National, State and Armed Forces flags at Sheridan's Municipal Cemetery (formerly Mount Hope Cemetery) are two smaller National flags marking the grave of US Army Paratrooper Pvt. Orval Loren Kock. The cemetery is replete with settings such as this as we remember our veterans on Memorial Day.
Many "Remember the Fallen" but once a year, Beverly (Bev) Johnson of Sheridan "Remembers the Fallen" each and every day of her life. Bev lost her 26-year old son, Marine SSgt Brian D. Bland on January 26, 2005 when he and 30 others lost their lives when his CH-53E Helicopter went down in Iraq.
