Early Wednesday morning crews from Knife River were laying down pavement on West Works Street. One more pass down the north side will complete Works Street and then it looks like Griffith Avenue has been roto-milled and will be next inline for the pavement overlay.

J.J. Butler is Top Bronc Rider @ Don King Days

Under what renown rodeo announcer, Jim Thompson called "Glorious Weather" Monday afternoon, Wyoming Cowboy J.J. Butler followed up his first bronc ride of 71 with this one for a 72 to win the 23rd Don King Days Bronc Riding Title.

Before the Bridge

At Tuesday evening's City Council meeting in Council Chambers at 7:00 pm the council will consider awarding the bid for the Wrench Ranch Pathways Project. Part of that project is to place a pedestrian bridge across Goose Creek at this location. This is the view at the very west end of Canfield Street where the bridge would be located - some 4 blocks west of the north Main McDonalds Restaurant.

Don't like Driving Down the Big Horns? Try Flying.

Hang gliders and even a parasailer or two gathered at Sand Turn on the Big Horn Mountains all Labor Day weekend, entertaining small crowds as they flew off toward Dayton, Ranchester and Parkman.

During the best flights gliders reached heights of up to approximately 13,000 feet, said glider Jim Bowman of Parkman.

Little Owl Wins the Don King Days Championship Polo Match

Monday's Don King Days kicked off at 11:00 am with the Don King Days Championship Polo Match between Little Owl and the No Trees. The No Trees team in white was leading 10 to 8 going into the final chukker when Joe Wayne Barry - seen here driving the ball to the goal - turned on the heat and scored three goals to give his team an 11 to 10 win.

Big Weekend of Roping for Dave Sedar

What a Labor Day weekend of roping steers it was for Dave Sedar of Casper. Dave was the only roper of the 25 at the 23rd Don King Days to have a time in all four go-rounds that concluded on Monday afternoon at the Big Horn Equestrian Center.

Henry Collins Rides for a 64 @ Don King Days

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the 23rd Don King Days, Henry Collins boarded his bronc the old fashioned way - rode for 10-seconds - bailed off between pickup men Cody Cunningham and Jim Smith - and had the top score of 64 on the day. After two go-rounds in the steer roping Casey Tillard leads with 15.5 & 14.4 for 29.9 on the day.

Looks like Labor Day is drawing near as the flags are up and flying, Don Kings Days is on the horizon, the last polo matches of the season (The Henry Burgess Memorial Cup & Don King Days Cup) are on tap and the Hang Gliders Fly-In will take place at Sand Turn in the Big Horn Mountains.

As the Friday evening sun sank from view west of the Edward Schunk Celebration of Life, the crowd filled the Big Horn Fire Hall and spread north onto the driveway sharing many memories of the life and times of Mr. Schunk. Off and Running @ The Gun

Under perfect weather conditions the Sheridan High School Boys Varsity Cross Country team of: Michael Rotellini, Kyle Dietsche, Chris Garber, Taylor Bruso, Jordan Ligocki, Paul Stadick and Chris Romanjenko were off and running at the gun in the 2011 Michelle Ludwig Invitational 5000 Meter Run held on the grounds of Fort Mackenzie Friday afternoon.
