Where you don't see these or any other speed limit signs on Sheridan County Roads starting July 1st, it means that: Effective July 1, 2011, the new statutory speed limits for County roads are:  Residential district and subdivision roads - 30 mph; Unpaved roads - 55 mph (unless posted otherwise); Paved roads - 65 mph (unless posted otherwise).

Perhaps this rainbow over the newly cut and baled hay bodes well for this year's hay crop. This view is looking east from 144 Upper Road (County Road 113) at 5:40 pm Thursday.

As 2011 approached the halfway point the Sheridan area experienced the hottest temperature to date on Wednesday. The 97 degrees recorded at 2:53 pm was just 7 degrees short of the record 104 set in 2002.

Great Lakes flight 7220 from Denver to Sheridan arrived Tuesday evening just as the sun was setting over the Bighorns. The Sheridan County Airport is back in operation after last weekend's closure for major construction on the main runway.

The Sheridan Junior High School "Soldier Pile Wall Project" engineered by Vista West Engineering of Sheridan is nearing completion. The 2.14 acre project on the Sheridan County School District No. 2 property included excavation of unstable soils; installation of a soldier pile retaining wall and tieback system; and slope grading seen here.

The Tongue River Valley Community Center is sponsoring the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus on Friday, July 1, 2011. The Circus will be held at the Ranchester Town Hall Grounds (directly behind the Ranchester Town Hall). Show times are 5:00pm and 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance (through Thursday) at either TRVCC location or at The Sugar Boot and The Sports Stop in Sheridan.

National Qualifiers from the local area, Cole Ponce from Big Horn, Casey Collins from Sheridan, Bryce Burnell & Faith Carson from Arvada and Cameron Irwin from Buffalo are headed to the 63rd Annual National High School Finals Rodeo - 2011 - at the CAM-PLEX Facilities of Gillette Wyoming from July 18th - 24th.
