"Inch by Inch" is how you can measure absolutely everything. Andrea Norwood, the performer, behind the lovable inchworm is about to measure the length of a Flamingo's neck - inch by inch - as performer Rhys Bevan-John maneuvers the Flamingo into position. Andrea and Rhys have been puppeteers with Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia since 2008.

Slam Dunks and Smiles

Monday evening the Harlem Ambassadors took to the hardwood at Sheridan College against the Hometown Heroes in a fund raiser for the Big Horn Christian Elementary School of Buffalo. Hometown Hero J.G.

March 22nd

Outdoor Track Season Starts

The Sheridan Broncs traveled down to Casper this last Saturday March 19 to attend the Early Bird Invitational. This meet is the first of the outdoor season and the team did great. The meet was a challenge mostly do to the wind. The wind blew steadily around 30 miles an hour with gusts going up to 40 for the majority of the day.

Just in time? This robin was seen and heard in Big Horn perhaps announcing that Spring 2011 officially starts in our part of the country at midnight Sunday, March 20th. I wonder how far this robin had to fly in order to be here for the occasion or perhaps this is a hearty soul who spent the winter with us.

Dayton Wyoming

On a clear day the Town of Dayton can clearly be seen as one descends the east side of the Bighorn Mountains on Highway 14, the Bighorn Scenic Byway. The new high school stands out just left of center while most of Dayton proper is above and to the right of the school.

Miss Wyo

A sure sign that spring is coming can be seen as you enter Big Horn where many young longhorns can be seen. This is WRL Miss Wyo, currently in first place in the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America (T.L.B.A.A.) Hall of Fame, standing beside her one-month old bull calf. Miss Wyo was over all grand champion at the N.I.L.E.

Longing for some Snow?

There appears to be plenty in the Bighorns judging by the snow depth that almost covers the fencing on the south side of Highway 14 just east of Black Mountain Road (Forest Rd 16) where the elevation is about 8000 feet. Wyoming snowpack for the Powder-Tongue Basin is 107% when compared with the historical average.

Out with the Silver Guardrails and In with the Black

Employees of S&S Builders were hard at work Tuesday morning installing new guardrails on the N. Main Street bridge between 1st Street and Dow. The new black railing can be seen on the far (west) side as workers are prepping the near (east) side for installation of the new railing. Soon Sheridan will have color coordinated black traffic light poles, street lights and now guardrails.
