It has been a little over two months since members of the Wyoming Army National Guard's 115th Fires Brigade returned from their year long deployment in Kuwait and Iraq. That deployment was the largest in Wyoming's history as 751 soldiers from the Cowboy State were part of the mission.

Quarry Waiver Granted; Quarry Permit Tabled

Two quarries went up for consideration at Tuesday's Sheridan County Commission meeting. First, commissioners considered and approved the renewal of a 5-year permit for the Beaver Creek Connell Quarry, on the JC Ranch property owned by Mike Connell and accessed off of Beaver Creek Road.

County Commissioners' Marathon Meeting

Sheridan County Commissioners kicked off the month of June with a marathon meeting, taking just over three hours to go through a 26-item agenda.

The commission considered and approved a 5-year lease agreement for office space at the Sheridan County Airport for the Department of Criminal Investigation – rental fees for the lease are $32,722 per year with an adjustment every two years.

Ranchester Council Discusses Fireworks Relocation

The location of where the fireworks are set off in Ranchester will remain the same.

This will be the second year that the Tongue River Valley Business Association will handle the 4th of July celebration for the Town of Ranchester. The Business Association made a proposal to the Ranchester Council Tuesday night to relocate where the fireworks are set off, to property owned by School District One near the Tongue River Middle School.

Sheridan County Community Appreciation Day

Community Appreciation Day is this Saturday at the Sheridan County Museum.

The Sheridan County Historical Society and Museum will be holding their annual Community Appreciation Day this Saturday. Sheridan County Museum Director/Curator Dana Prater says they will be celebrating a couple of different things Saturday.

Spring Follies 2010

The SheridanAires will present the 2010 Spring Follies this week at the Senior Center.

The annual SheridanAires Spring Follies will take place at the Sheridan Senior Center this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Senior Center Activities Director Jane Perkins tells us about this year's program entitled “Route 66—New York or Bust”.
