Trial Date Set in Wyoming Facebook Post Threat

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A judge has set an Oct. 9 trial date for a former University of Wyoming student accused of posting an anonymous Facebook threat against herself. Meghan Lanker-Simons is charged with a misdemeanor count of interfering with a peace officer. She has pleaded not guilty.

Upton Man Killed in Mine Accident in Campbell County

An accident that occurred at approximately 1:30 am Friday morning at Arch Coal's Black Thunder mine in Campbell County has left one man dead, and another in the hospital. The Campbell County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that 24-year-old Jacob Dowdy of Upton was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was a sizzling Third Thursday Street Festival in downtown Sheridan where the 5th annual Blue Ribbon Steak Cook-Off was held.

Temperatures hovered near 90 even as the sun dipped beneath the horizon as five teams vied for the first place prize of $500.

An artists' reception was held Thursday night at the SAGE Exhibit Gallery on North Main. It was the 28th annual Watercolor Wyoming National Exhibition featuring 47 paintings created by 37 artists from 18 states, six of them local.

Numerous events both days will include most of the cast of the A&E Network's show “Longmire,” based on local author Craig Johnson's murder-mystery series of best-selling books.
