Volunteers reported 310 eagle sightings in the Powder River Basin during the 2013 Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey conducted by the Bureau of Land Management. Bald eagles accounted for 179 total sightings on the morning of Jan. 18.

Some months ago in this space, we repeated a fantastic rumor about a Machu Picchu-type place deep in the Wind River Mountains. The story was far-fetched, and it just could not be verified.
