CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Three conservation groups are suing the U.S. Interior Department over a plan to open the Fortification Creek area in northeast Wyoming to coal-bed methane development. The Bureau of Land Management has approved phased development starting this year.

This Saturday the Buffalo Board of Realtors will be having a food drive to benefit the Bread Of Life Food Pantry in Buffalo.

The Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority will play a bigger role in developing a plan for economic development in Sheridan. The SEEDA Board approved a document Tuesday that will serve as a process and procedure manual for Sheridan economic development.

Taxiway A at the Sheridan County Airport will be re-striped soon thanks to the Sheridan County Commissioners approving a grant request that will be submitted to the state.

At their meeting Tuesday, Buffalo's City Council approved on third and final reading Ordinance #1357, the appropriation bill, or budget for fiscal year 2013.

Construction of the new Meadowlark Elementary School is almost complete, and contractors plan to turn the new building over to Sheridan County School District #2 in July.

At their meeting Tuesday, the Johnson County Commissioners heard concerns from landowners in the area of a proposed gravel pit on Shell Creek Road northwest of Buffalo.

Sheridan County School District #2 awarded the a bid to build the Highland Park maintainence building to O'Dell Construction. Five bids were made, and and O'Dell's bid was the lowest at $113,070.

In a surprise move at Tuesday's meeting, the Buffalo City Council appointed candidate Scott Madsen to fill the empty council seat left vacant when councilman Bruce Hepp passed away suddenly last year and most recently when Justin Gerard stepped down amid controversy over an arrest for alleged drug possession.
