Johnson County's Commissioners have called a special meeting for Thursday, June 28 at 9am to ratify a county-wide fire ban effective immediately.

Tongue River State Park in southeastern Montana has been without electricity since about 8 pm Tuesday evening.

Sheridan County has announced that there will be a special meeting of the County Commissioners Thursday morning at 8 o'clock regarding fire restrictions within the County.

*UPDATED* Johnson County Sheriff Steve Kozisek gave a quick update on the Cato Fire Wednesday morning to the county commissioners, and spoke to Sheridan Media afterwards.

Kozisek explained the situation.

The National Interagency Coordination Center Incident Management Report for today reports 18 new fires have erupted in the Rocky Mountain region, 10 of which are uncontained.

With several wildfires burning nearby and a few days of high winds, the city of Sheridan has been blanketed in a distinct cloud of smoke.

A meeting to present and discuss the draft master plan for the Sheridan Railroad Historic District will be held Thursday night at the historic Sheridan Inn. In 2004, the Sheridan Railroad Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The new digital flood insurance rate maps for Sheridan County are finished and there will be an open house this week where the public can view them. Officials from FEMA will be on hand to answer questions about the maps, which were recently completed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
