Halloween is fun, but it is a holiday that often warrants extra safety precautions.

At their last meeting, the Johnson County Board of Health heard reports from Dr. Mark Schueler with the Johnson County Healthcare Center on flu in the state, the recent national meningitis outbreak and how it pertains to Wyoming, and a staff member at the JCHC interested in the Board of Health.

Buffalo's annual Monster March will be happening this afternoon beginning at 4pm.

Kids can line up in costume at the Jim Gatchell Museum, and at 4pm march from the courthouse south on Main Street to Angus and back up Main to the Chamber, collecting their bounty along the way.

The Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition Joint Powers Board, at their meeting Tuesday afternoon, discussed the two proposals brought forth by the work group to try to resolve water rights and other issues at Lake DeSmet.

Hunters are more than halfway toward meeting the quota for Wyoming's first wolf hunt since the animals were reintroduced to the Yellowstone region in the 1990s.

The hunt began Oct. 1 and continues through Dec. 31.

The cost of hunting and fishing licenses could increase by at least 21.5 percent under a proposal from state officials.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department officials say the hikes are needed to make up for a revenue shortfall of between $8 and $10 million a year.

Bearlodge Ranger District officials are planning to conduct a prescribed burn tomorrow and Thursday, November 1 in the Black Hills National Forest. The burn will take place approximately 4 miles northwest of Sundance on Warren Peak Highway.

Empower Wyoming, a group that offers boundary-setting training to kids of all ages, teaching them effective personal safety in situations with strangers and people they know, will be meeting tonight at the Buffalo Wesleyan Church at 6:30 p.m.

The State Canvassing Board will meet in Cheyenne on Wednesday, November 14, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 1699 of the Herschler Building. With the November 6 election date quickly approaching, the board will seek to validate the state's results.

A group of ranchers with irrigation interests revolving around outflow of Lake DeSmet area submitted a petition to the Sheridan County commissioners for their considerations in negotiating the reallocation of Lake DeSmet water rights.
