Carol Mead to Run in N.Y. Marathon in Honor of Slain UW Students
Wyoming First Lady Carol Mead announced Thursday that she will be running in the New York Marathon this November - but there's a catch. Mead will wear a ceremonial bib in honor of eight University of Wyoming cross country runners who were tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2001.
The Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition Joint Powers Board held their October meeting in Buffalo Thursday evening and the main topic of discussion at the meeting was the possible separate marketing of water rights by Johnson and Sheridan Counties.
City Attorney Ben Kirven gave a report to the city council at their meeting this week, updating them on various projects he is currently working on the issues at the city's waste water treatment plant.
At their regular meeting this week, the Johnson County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 460, amending the budget to show additions to Funds 21 and 52 and a payment from the General Fund for equipment.

School Resource Officers Dan White and Sam Damon with the Sheridan Police Department spent some time this week participating in the Holy Name School Pre-Kindergarten School School Safety Day. The SRO'S discussed the role of policemen, Halloween safety and stranger danger.
Sheridan and Johnson Counties are continuing to have discussions concerning the proposed lease of water rights at Lake DeSmet by the Wyoming Game and Fish, in what appears to be preparations for today's Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition Joint Powers Board meeting in Buffalo.
