The Kiwanis Duck Race was supposed to take place in Big Goose Creek Friday afternoon, but after a quick meeting of the minds it was decided to have the race take place down the Kendrick Pool slide.

Mattresses on raised frames with four bike wheels, and one three-wheeled bed made up the traditional scene for the bed races down Main Street right before the parade took off Friday morning. NX Bar took the race by about three seconds over Bob's Super Clean for the second straight year.

A record 420 participants competed in the annual Sneakers and Spurs 5K run and 1.5 mile walk. Just as the sun started to hit main street, the first finishers came across the finish line in front of The Sports Stop.

Hundreds got up early Friday for the annual pancake breakfast as great weather greeted the soon-to-be-well-fed people for the beginning of Sheridan WYO Rodeo Parade day Friday morning. Mark Kinner, with Kiwanis, says that the event is always a great success.

Keeping things safe for the thousands of people that come together for the street dances both Friday and Saturday night is the main objective of the Sheridan Police Department.

Johnson County Planner Rob Yingling brought an issue with the airport to the attention of the county commissioners last week.
Yingling told them that Airport Zoning Regulations need to be looked at and either adopted or changed, based on what he found.

The Buffalo Swim Club will be presenting the first of what is hoped to be an annual triathlon for kids 15 and under this Saturday at the Johnson County Family YMCA in Buffalo.

At the Johnson County Commissioner's meeting last week, Clerk of District Court Thelma Axberg told the commissioners that an additional circuit court judge for the county has been tentatively deemed as needed, and approval and funding will be sought next.
