Officials Briefed on Poll Results

The Sonoran Institute and the Nature Conservancy partnered to commission an outside firm to conduct a poll to survey Sheridan County residents to gauge support for the Optional One Cent Sales Tax that is up for renewal this year. 300 random registered voters were surveyed by telephone over a three-day period in late May.

LDCC Receives Variance Request

The Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition Joint Powers Board received a variance request from Dick Hall at their meeting Wednesday. LDCC Administrator Edith Johnson-LaMeres says Hall's variance request pertains to elevation of a residence that he would like to build on three acres of land he owns near the Lake.

The Sage Grouse Implementation Team made its final recommendations to Governor Dave Freudenthal Tuesday, the same day that several environmental groups filed a federal lawsuit over the bird's status.

The 6th annual Big Horn Mountain Festival will take place next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Buffalo. One of the many organizers for the event, Lynn Young says the festival has become a premier musical event in Wyoming, attracting musicians from all over the country.

Two Arraigned in District Court

Judge John Fenn sat before several cases in 4th Judicial District Court Tuesday, including two arraignments. 30-year-old Johnie Garner, represented by Erin Wardell, was arraigned on five felony counts for incidents that took place between April and September 2009 while she was employed by UPS in Sheridan.
