Sales tax revenues in the City of Sheridan dropped almost nine percent in fiscal 2009. A one time increase in use taxes helped total revenues remain relatively level. The Sheridan City Council received a financial outlook for the City from City Treasurer Jennifer Reed.

The process by which the Bighorn National Forest revised its forest use plan has been vindicated in Federal Court. Wolf hunting season is still open in Idaho and how long that season will last is still in the hands of a Federal judge in Missoula, Montana. Earlier this week U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy heard arguments from both sides, after environmentalist groups filed a lawsuit to put wolves back on the endangered species list.

All three defendants in the Ernst murder case have waived their right to a speedy preliminary hearing in Sheridan County Circuit Court. 19-year-old Dennis Poitra, Jr. and 15-year-old Dharminder Vir Sen had been scheduled to appear in court on Friday afternoon. 16-year-old Wyatt Bear Cloud had previously waived that right.

Late last Saturday night several Sheridan teens had an alleged confrontation with Sheridan Municipal Court Judge Stuart Healy. 18-year-old Lane Terzieff claims Healy punched him in the back without provocation.

The 2009 fall black bear season for black bear hunt areas one and two in the northern Bighorn Mountains is closed. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department ended the season on Wednesday. Hunters should check black bear regulations for specific boundaries.
