The Dayton Town Council met for their final meeting of August Wednesday night. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there and has the details.

Last week we told you about the news that Sheridan Memorial Hospital would be opening their own private care practice, and that Dr. Ian Hunter was the first to commit to that practice. Hospital Contract Manager Lynn Custis says things continue to progress.

The community blood draws at Sheridan Memorial Hospital wrap up this week, as Friday is the last day. Hospital Marketing Manager Danae Brandjord says there's still a little bit of time left for those wanting to take part.

The 2nd annual Matthew Perkins Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser will be Friday, September 4th. Matt's mother, Jane Perkins, explains that there's a new location for the fundraiser and that it will once again offer up some great music.

The final piece of the puzzle is in place as the Sheridan County Commissioners approved an amended Law Enforcement Center agreement at their meeting yesterday.

Congress is currently embroiled in healthcare debates, and some are calling the proposed initiative “Obama-care.” The bill is extremely long and complex, so one east coast doctor is traveling the country to answer questions about the bill.

Red Grade Road will be closed Thursday from at least 8 in the morning until noon. The truck and trailer that went over the side of the road a couple weeks ago will be removed and the heavy equipment used will completely block the road.

Sheridan County School District 1 held their August meeting last night. More students means more teachers, and that’s just what is necessary in the district. The Board approved hiring another kindergarten teacher so that more students could be served since registrations are well up from last year.

The results are still unofficial until the election is canvassed later this week, but voters decided to keep the one-cent Capital Facilities Tax in yesterday’s election. The vote was nearly 2-to-1 in favor of the measure. There were just over 3,500 total votes cast.

The Ranchester Town Council received an update on the status of the "Safe Routes To School" Project at their meeting Tuesday night. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there and has more.
