Storm gutters were full and winds drove rain sideways for a few minutes Friday evening in Sheridan. The storm didn’t last long enough to do major damage but some areas of town were affected more than others. Cloud to ground lightning struck a tree in south Sheridan near Brundage Lane and some areas of the foothills reported large hail stones.

Earlier this week, State Senator John Schiffer was a guest on KROE'S Public Pulse program. One of the many topics that were discussed, was the state's property tax situation. Senator Schiffer had this to say when asked about the issue of property taxes.

Thousands flocked to Belgrade, Montana on Friday afternoon to attend President Barack Obama’s town hall healthcare meeting there. The President is visiting Montana, Colorado, and Yellowstone National Park this weekend.

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - A downtown Bozeman restaurant is offering a $10 "Barack Obama Burger" Friday in honor of the president's visit to the area.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday in a legal challenge that seeks to force the nation's leading coal-producing state to regulate carbon dioxide emissions.

The hearing centered on a state air permit for a $1.3 billion coal-fired power plant under construction by Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Campbell County.

One of the victims of a severe beating during Sheridan WYO Rodeo weekend was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday. 24-year-old Neil Switzer was arrested on a failure to appear warrant.

The missed court appearance was for a probation revocation hearing scheduled last spring. Switzer was on probation after being found guilty of domestic battery in 2008.

Sheridan has a small number of primary care physicians and many of them could be retiring in the next few years. Where will that leave our community? The Sheridan County Fair Association Board met last night and they decided to go ahead with work to try to rectify the drainage issues in the infield at the fairgrounds. Board Member James Bohnsack says due to the grading work, the permanent infield bathrooms will have to go.

Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal delivered the keynote address at the ongoing wind symposium in Laramie. Over 600 people are attending the conference. Freudenthal said that Wyoming is excited to host wind power projects, but there has to be more to it than just the turbines.

The special election on whether to continue the Capital Facilities Tax in Sheridan County is Tuesday, August 18th. The $25 million that will be voted on will go towards infrastructure and road improvements in the city of Sheridan, the towns of Ranchester, Dayton and Clearmont and Sheridan County in general.
