Governor's father, Adam Schweitzer, dies at 89

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Adam Schweitzer, the father of Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, has died. He was 89. A lifelong farmer and rancher who kept working into his 80s, Adam Schweitzer died in Helena of natural causes. He was born May 15, 1920 in Goldstone, the sixth of nine children by Ukrainian natives Michael and Francisca Schweitzer, who came to Montana as homesteaders in 1909.

Blackfeet Tribe approves law enforcement plan

BROWNING, Mont. (AP) - The Blackfeet Tribal Business Council has approved a resolution to take over its own law enforcement responsibilities.

Cheyenne Bull Rider Dies

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming cowboy who earlier this year was ranked among the top bull riders in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association has died.
Bryan Guthrie of Cheyenne died Wednesday at age 21. His father, Rod Guthrie, says his son didn't wake up in the morning and the cause of death hasn't been determined.
