The Sheridan County Planning and Zoning Commission approved a resolution Wednesday night that establishes a Groundwater Protection Area for Sheridan County. The protection area outlines the class five high vulnerability areas, which are the most prevalent south and southwest of Sheridan in the Little Goose Valley.

There has been some confusion as of late as to the way the current Capital Facilities Tax is going to be distributed throughout Sheridan County. The last time the tax was passed, monies were distributed to the smaller communities such as Dayton, Ranchester and Clearmont first.

BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - Officials with the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department have confirmed that a Butte, Montana man has died of complications from the swine flu, bringing to eight the number of Montana deaths from the illness since August.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming Treasurer Joe Meyer has disclosed that he has lung cancer and expects to undergo surgery in Cheyenne next week.

The 68-year-old Meyer said he discovered the cancer about two weeks ago when he sought medical treatment for chest pain. He said doctors have told him that the tumor in his left lung is malignant but has not spread.

The Sheridan County Commissioners held their first November meeting yesterday morning. They started by approving a pair of conditional use permits. One of which would allow the Turned Antiques business to display outdoor merchandise on their current location on Lower Piney Creek Road.

The original Sheridan County Courthouse was built in 1904. The expansion in the early 1980’s more than doubled the size of the building. However, very little has been done with the building since that time. There have been some renovations to the first and second floors of the expansion. That work was completed earlier this year. Now the County is looking to update the building further.
