Mandatory Recount For The GOP Gubernatorial Race?

Several of the GOP Gubernatorial candidates were running neck and neck during the primaries this week, resulting in GOP candidate Matt Mead beating runner-up Rita Meyer by just 714 votes.

District 1: First Steps in Superintendent Search

At Tuesday's Sheridan County School District 1 Board of Trustees meeting, trustees voted unanimously to spend $6,500 to the Wyoming School Board Association to enter into an agreement to establish a search committee to find a replacement for Superintendent Sue Belish after her retirement next year. Big Horn, specifically the Big Horn Woman's Club, will be the location for a significant birthday celebration this Sunday, August 22nd. Sheridan Media's Mary Jo Johnson has the story.

County Clerk, HD 40, State Auditor and State Supt. of Public Instruction

Eda Schunk Thompson was sworn in last April after Audrey Koltiska's death. The people of Sheridan County made it official after yesterday's Primary.

Incumbent Mike Madden of Buffalo won the House District 40 Primary with 221 Sheridan County votes; he garnered 1,984 total votes between Sheridan and Johnson County voters in that house district.

Eda Schunk Thompson will continue as Sheridan County Clerk, receiving nearly 2,500 votes. She phoned us this morning with this statement.

SHERIDAN HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS - The Bronc and Lady Bronc tennis teams got a lot of good tennis in over the summer as several tennis enthusiasts in Sheridan held summer programs for the players.

New Sheridan high school Head coach Bob Faurot says, playing most of the summer has made a big difference for the players.

They open the season next Thursday with matches in Jackson so he says they got right to work to be ready to take the court in a week.

Mead Wins GOP Gubernatorial Primary

In a race that had three different candidates in the lead at one point throughout the evening, the Republican Candidate for Wyoming Governor will be Matt Mead. The margin was very slim, as Mead beat out fellow republican Rita Meyer by just 714 votes.

Botten Takes House District 30 Seat

The race for the Wyoming House District 30 seat was closely contested throughout the evening, but in the end Jon Botten finished with the most votes, and says he was humbled by the results.

As far as how Botten feels about what's going on in Cheyenne and what he would like to accomplish.

Kane Wins County Coroner Race

The most closely contested local race in Tuesday's Primary Election was that of Sheridan County Coroner, as PJ Kane narrowly edged out current Coroner Mark Ferries by less than 200 votes. As far as how Kane felt shortly after finding out that he'd won?

Kane will not have an opponent in the upcoming General Election on November 2nd.

Paul Fall Will Continue as Sheridan County Assessor

Paul Fall received nearly 15-hundred more votes than his opponent in this election, and will continue as Sheridan County Assessor:

Fall received over 3,500 votes and has no opponents in the General Election.

Rosie Berger--Ready To Go Back To Work

Rosie Berger will continue to serve as the State Representative for Precinct 51, receiving nearly twice the number of votes as her Republican opponent.
