Buffalo Police Chief Requests Officer Training Funds

At their Tuesday meeting the Buffalo City Council approved a request from Police Chief Jason Carder to allow Officer Kyle Johnson to attend Immediate Action Teams (IAT) Training in South Carolina. The cost of travel, ammunition and the course is roughly $2,700 and will be covered by a Homeland Security Grant.

Buffalo’s Veterans Day Observances

Today is Veteran’s Day and like many towns throughout the country, Buffalo will have their own services to honor veterans of all wars.
The parade of veterans will assemble at the corner of Fort Street and Adams Avenue at 10:45 and will then march to the Veteran’s Wall at Fort and Main Streets. The ceremonies will begin there at 11 o’clock.

It's time to once again take a look back at some of the top stories that made the news this past week with our Sheridan Media Week in Review.

The Sheridan City Council voted unanimously to reject a bid from A&B Buildings and Supplies of Sheridan for a permanent household hazardous waste facility at the city landfill that will replace the current temporary facility. The bid came in $11,000 over what was budgeted for the project. City Councilman Levi Dominguez.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Wheatland man faces life in prison when he goes before a judge for sentencing in the 2011 shooting deaths of his three young sons and his brother. Everett Conant III pleaded no-contest in June to the four killings and to a charge of attempted murder against his ex-wife, who also was wounded in the shootings at a Wheatland trailer park.

District Judge John Brooks of Douglas has scheduled a sentencing hearing for Conant for Tuesday afternoon in Wheatland. Prosecutors have agreed not to seek the death penalty against him.

Rams Advance to Championship Game

The Big Horn Rams won on the road Friday night by beating the Lovell Bulldogs, earning a spot in the 2A championship game Friday in Laramie. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there for the game and has the recap.

Pokes/Cowgirls post victories/ Wyoming football faces 16th ranked Fresno state

The Wyoming basketball Cowboys beat Tennessee-Martin 78-60 Friday night.

The Cowgirls beat Montana state Northern 71-57 Friday night in Sheridan to open their regular season.

Kaitlyn Mileto led the way with 22 points, Kayla Woodward had 15 and Fallon Lewis 13.

The football Cowboys play at home tonight against 16th ranked Fresno state. You can hear the game live on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM kickoff is at 8:15.

Art Show Opens

Paintings and painted chairs are open to the public in a show and sale this month at the SAGE Exhibit Gallery in the Sheridan College building on Main Street in downtown Sheridan.

Chamber Presents Obamacare Talk

Wyoming Insurance Commissioner Tom Hirsig will be in Sheridan next Thursday morning (Nov. 14) to talk about the federal Affordable Health Care Act – also known as Obamacare – and how area residents can participate.
