Week in Review

It's time to once again take a look back at some of the top stories that made the news this week with our Sheridan Media Week in Review. The Sheridan City Council adopted the master plan for the Sheridan Historic Railroad District, which was formed in 2004. Liaison for property owners in the district, Edre Maier, says that the plan opens the door for potential opportunities in the area.

Saturday Was Good Day To Run

At high noon Saturday these 76 Class 4A girls embarked on the 5K State Cross Country Championship run on the grounds of Fort Mackenzie. Nineteen minutes and fifteen seconds later Tabitha Simmons of Campbell County High School crossed the finish line in first place.

State X-Country / Broncs / Rams heading to the playoffs / Regional volleyball

STATE CROSS COUNTRY - The state meet starts with the boys 4-A finals at 10:30. The meet is being held on the grounds of the Sheridan VA medical center.

REGIONAL VOLLEYBALL - The Lady Bronc volleyball team was eliminated from the 4-A East regional volleyball tournament Friday.

They dropped their opening match against Cheyenne East and then were eliminated from the tournament with a loss to Laramie.

Big Horn will play Wright for 2-A East regional championship today in Wright.

Crews Work to Preserve Historic Pavilion

Sheridan County Fairground crews are starting the first of a long list of maintenance items that will preserve the historic pavilion and allow the building to become the fairgrounds' second year-round facility.

Buffalo Council OKs Board Hopefuls, Street Closure

Two vacancies on the Buffalo Planning and Zoning Board were filled by the City Council at their last meeting.
Steve Reimann was re-approved for another three-year term on the board and Craig Cope was approved to serve out an unexpired term.

Sheridan Stomps Cheyenne South Bison

Fifty-five seconds into Friday night's game Sheridan's Daniel Sessions carried the ball 63-yards into the end zone on this play for his first of four TD's in the first half. Daniel's second TD came just 53-seconds later following a Bison Adam Haberkorn fumble caused by a Bronc hit from Daniel Sessions and Colbey Bruney.

Big Horn Dominates Eagles to Close Out Regular Season

The Big Horn Rams football team jumped out to an 18-0 lead in the first quarter with three early touchdowns and were never threatened by the Tongue River Eagles Friday afternoon in Big Horn. The Rams pitched a shutout and cruised to an easy 46-0 win against the Eagles. Rams Head Coach Michael McGuire says that the early big lead allowed some of their younger players, particularly at the running back position, to get some much needed experience.

Big Horn Beats Tongue River In Last Thunder Bowl

With 3:11 to go in the 1st quarter Rams QB senior Connor McCafferty pitches the ball to junior Corey Sturza on a second and 4 from the 4. Corey ran left behind his blockers into the end zone making the score Big Horn 12 - Tongue River 0. With TR unable to get on-track Big Horn, in cruise control, ran the score to 46 to 0.

Food Bank's Labor Of Love

The local food pantry in Sheridan is a labor of love for its founder Dan Lick. He saw a need and filled it.

Game Office Wants Elk Samples

The Kerns Wildlife Habitat area in the Big Horn Mountains northwest of Sheridan that's managed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has re-opened to motorized vehicles.
