Johnson County Enacts Full Fire Restrictions

At a special meeting Thursday morning, the Johnson County Commissioners signed Resolution No. 459A, implementing full fire restrictions in the county, effective immediately.

Cato Fire In Sheridan County Fire Line Is Established

Sheridan County fire warden, Bill Biastoch, reports firefighters have successfully established a fireline around the portion of the Cato wildfire that extends into Sheridan County.

Ashland, MT Evacuated

The Rosebud County Sheriff's dispatch confirmed reports that Ashland, Montana, was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to fires near the area. More than 800 people were evacuated to nearby Lame Deer, Colstrip and Broadus.

UPDATE 11:00AM The Sheridan County Commissioners during a special meeting this morning approved a resolution enacting partial fire restrictions within the County that are in effect immediately.

SHERIDAN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL RODEO RESULTS

The Sheridan County High School Rodeo Team represented Sheridan very well this past week at the Wyoming High School Rodeo Finals.

The Team had three members qualify for the National High School Rodeo Finals coming up July 15-21 in Rock Springs, WY. Maggie Fredrickson was crowned Miss Wyoming High School Rodeo Queen.

Jeffrey Zdziarski won the State Championship in Bareback Riding and Kylee Cahoy placed captured fourth place qualification and overall Average winner in Barrel Racing for the State Finals Rodeo.

Tuesday night, officials with the Ucross Foundation prepared for the worst as the Cato Fire increased in size and appeared to be headed toward the facilities. Ucross Intern Liza Birnbaum says they were ready to evacuate if they had to.
