Jets finish "B" tourney in 3rd place / Troopers open state "AA" Wednesday

JETS BASEBALL - The state "B" American Legion baseball tournament wrapped up Sunday at Thorne-Rider stadium the Sheridan Jets were eliminated in the first game yesterday.

The Jets won their first two games before taking a loss against Gillette Saturday. They faced Cheyenne yesterday for the right to take on Gillette again for the state title but lost 6-0 ending their season.

Head coach Ryan Murner says it's tough when the season ends.

Council Approves Idlewild Hotel Variance Requests

Buffalo's City Council listened to a variance request from the owners of the Idlewild Hotel concerning the definition of a condominium, and a secondary variance that covers a fire wall.

Briefs From Johnson County Commission

Johnson County's Commissioners have discussed and approved a number of requests at a recent meeting.

They approved a request from County Coroner Dave Harness to appoint Adam Michelena as the Deputy Johnson County Coroner.

Johnson County Fair And Rodeo Week Underway

Sunday was the first day of the week-long Fair and Rodeo celebration in Johnson County.

Open class exhibits and FFA exhibits were due, and the Dog Show took place that morning. We'll have results as they become available.

In the primary election coming up next month, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction position is up for grabs and four candidates are in the running. They are Bill Winney, Sheryl Lain, Jillian Balow and Mike Ceballos. The superintendent supervises and advocates for the state's children.
