“Paws for a Cause” Walk/Run Saturday at Powder Horn

Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue is sponsoring a 5K walk/run at the Powder Horn Saturday morning.

GOOD WEEKEND COMING UP ON THE LOCAL SPORTS SCENE

LADY BRONC VOLLEYBALL - The Lady Bronc volleyball team will open their season at a tournament in Riverton tomorrow.

The Lady Broncs start the season as the defending 4-A champs and Head coach Wendy Ruby says that positive finish to last season has carried over into practice the last two weeks.

Ruby says with many new faces on the varsity squad this year it may take a few matches to find out this team's identity.

Bison, Buckaroo Weekend Preview For August 24

The Bison golf team was in Gillette Monday and Tuesday and the boys team finished 7th of 10 teams, while the girls finished fifth of nine teams. The top finisher for the boys was Lee Hartley who finished 8th with a 162 for the tournament. The top finisher for the girls was Sydney Gruntmeier, 14th, who shot 210 for the tournament.
Next up is a tournament in Rawlins today and Friday.

Buffalo Council OKs Water Tap For Property In County

At the request of First Northern Bank, the Buffalo City Council approved a variance for a water tap installation on a property outside the city limits.

Salmon Recall Affects Wyoming Shipments

A seafood company is recalling some of its smoked salmon products because of possible contamination by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. Spence & Co. Ltd. is recalling its smoked salmon trim sold in 8-ounce packages in Wyoming and several other states. The packages bear lot number 6704701.

St. Francis 4K Paws Walk/Run Raises Nearly $4K

Participants start the 4K Walk at the St. Francis Animal Shelter fundraiser Wednesday in Buffalo.

The second annual St. Francis Animal Shelter 4K Paws Walk/Run was held Wednesday night at Buffalo's Washington Park and raised nearly $4,000.

Forward Sheridan and the City of Sheridan hosted a presentation Wednesday by Randy Bruns, Economic Development Director for Cheyenne LEADS, which is a non-profit economic development organization assisting business in other states to relocate to Wyoming.

26th Annual Story Days Begins Friday

The 26th annual Story Days will get underway Friday at 8 am with a craft fair at the Lodore, followed by the ever popular dutch oven cook-off that will begin at noon at the Story Woman's Club.

Aberdeen Fire Nearly Contained

A media release issued by the Bureau of Indian affairs states that the Aberdeen Fire is now almost contained. Caused by a vehicle, the fire erupted shortly after noon on Tuesday near Interstate 90 and Old US Highway 87, south of the Aberdeen exit, three miles north of the Wyoming State Line.

Johnson County Votes Against Lake DeSmet Lease

During their regular meeting Wednesday, the Johnson County Commissioners hosted a public meeting to discuss the proposed lease of water in Lake DeSmet by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, which the commissioners again voted against.
