Christensen out at UW / SC hoops has big weekend / High school winter sports begin

COWBOY FOOTBALL - The hammer came down in Laramie Sunday as Wyoming f0ootball coach Dave Christensen was fired after the Pokes went 5-7 on the season following Saturday's 35-7 loss at Utah state.

Christensen's five year record at Wyoming was 27-35 overall and 16-23 in league play. He did take the Pokes to two New Mexico bowl games winning one.

UW Athletic Director Tom Burman issued a statement saying " the football program has not achieved at the level of success we expect"

County Commissioners to Discuss Floodplain Management

Sheridan County commissioners will consider items ranging from county floodplain management to mobile home park licenses for 2014 when they meet this week. The meeting will start at 9 Tuesday morning in the commissioners' board room on the second floor of the county courthouse addition.

Ranchester Council to Consider Annexation

Ranchester's Town Council will consider annexation of Lot 2 of Spirit Ridge in its meeting this week. The meeting will start at 6:30 Tuesday at the town hall. Spirit Ridge is a subdivision of two- and five-acre parcels adjacent to the town.

Light Up Buffalo Fun, Successful

This weekend's Light Up Buffalo events were fun for those participating, and successful in raising funds for the Buffalo Downtown Association (BDA).

County approves amended contract for fairgrounds

Johnson County's Commissioners approved and amended contract for billing of power at the horse barns at the county's fairgrounds.

Christensen out as Wyoming coach

Dave Christensen was fired as Wyoming's football coach Sunday after the Cowboys lost five of their last six games this season.

He coached Wyoming for five years, taking the Cowboys to two bowl games. Wyoming finished 5-7 after starting 4-2, ending the season with a 35-7 loss to Utah State on Saturday.

Athletic Director Tom Burman says the football program "has not achieved at the level of success that we expect."

Christensen has three years remaining on a contract that runs through 2016.

SAGE Hosts Two December Art Shows

Sheridan's community art guild, SAGE, is hosting two shows this month. Four Sheridan County artists are featured in “Retrospective/New Prospective,” a show that brings two legendary local artists together with two relative newcomers to Sheridan's art community.
