School District One Kicks-Off iPad Initiative

Middle school students of Sheridan County School District One will have some new hi-tech gadgets to aid in the learning process this year, as the School District has kicked off an iPad initiative for the year. District One Superintendent Marty Kobza.

Gilead Now at 4,430 Acres, 5% Containment

The Gilead Fire burning burning 10 miles northwest of Buffalo and 8 miles southwest of Story is now at 4,430 acres as of Thursday night. The fire is also estimated to be 5% contained. Heavy smoke at times Thursday gave the impression that the fire had grown significantly.

UW President to Retire Next Year

University of Wyoming President Tom Buchanan announced Thursday that he will retire at the end of summer 2013. Buchanan made the announcement during his “State of the University Speech”.

Shutting Down the Inn

The Sheridan Heritage Center Board of Trustees has announced that the Sheridan Inn and 1893 Grille and Spirits will cease operations effective October 1st.

Gilead Fire Management Team to Host Two Public Meetings This Weekend

The Gilead Fire Incident Management Team will host two meetings this weekend to update the public on the Gilead Fire which is located approximately 8 miles southwest of Story. Interested individuals are welcome to attend either meeting.

Local Mural Artists Recognized For Hard Work

Mural artists Jenny Wuerker, Aaron Wuerker and Marchel Kelly address those gathered for the presentation Wednesday afternoon.
The second mural that will be completed in the summer of 2013.

At Wednesday evening's Main Street Market in Buffalo, local artists Aaron and Jenny Wuerker and Marchel Kelly were recognized for their hard work on the mural on the Trading Post building facing Crazy Woman Square in Buffalo.

Black Bear Hunt Areas 1 And 2 in Bighorns Closed

The fall black bear seasons for hunt areas 1 and 2 in the Bighorn black bear management unit are closed. The closed areas are located in the northern Bighorn Mountains.

New Bell Tower on the Big Horn School Campus

As part of the recent Big Horn School Campus renovation a new bell tower was constructed. This tower now houses two historic bells. Information from Judy Slack, manager of the Wyoming Room of the Sheridan Fulmer Public LIbrary, indicates that the smaller bell on the right - The Wyoming Collegiate Institute Bell - was used from 1892 - 1930.

Out of the Darkness Walk is Saturday

This weekend is the third annual Out of the Darkness Walk to Prevent Suicide. The trek kicks off at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Grinnell Plaza.
