Growth Potential Remains High For Gilead Fire

The Bighorn National Forest issued a media release regarding the latest information on the Gilead Fire northwest of Buffalo. It states that Chuck Russell’s type 3 incident management team took over management of the fire early Thursday morning. Safety concerns preclude firefighters on the ground.

BHNF: Area Closure Near Gilead Wildfire In Effect

According to information released through InciWeb Incident Information System, Big Horn National Forest Supervisor Bill Bass has signed an emergency area closure related to the Gilead Fire.

Twin Buttes Fire to Be Contained Soon

The Bighorn National Forest has issued a media release that states that the Twin Buttes Fire is expected to be contained soon, perhaps sometime later today. The fire is burning north of Burgess Junction and has consumed about five acres of lodgepole pine.

NEET: Sheridan Meth Bust Is More Than Meets The Eye

Yesterday, law enforcement announced 21 people from Sheridan and the surrounding area were arrested on felony drug conspiracy and distribution charges. These arrests stem from a two-year investigation of four methamphetamine distribution rings.

USFS: Wilderness Designation Does Not Stop Firefighting

The Gilead Wildfire, which is burning 10 miles northwest of Buffalo, currently has a Type 3 National Incident Response Team Assigned to it, but there are no firefighters on the scene of the fire at this time due to the inaccessibility of the terrain.

Incident Management Team takes over Gilead Fire

As of 6 o'clock this morning, the Gilead Fire, 10 miles northwest of Buffalo, has been taken over by a Type 3 Incident Management Team. Public Affairs Specialist for the Big Horn National Forest, Susie Douglas.
