Evacuations Lifted on SE Montana Reservation

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Authorities have lifted an evacuation order and reopened roads that had been closed due to a wildfire threatening the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation.

Black Butte Fire in the Bighorns

Firefighters are on the scene of a wildfire burning about 11 miles northeast of Hyattville in the Bighorn National Forest. According to a media release from the Bighorn National Forest, the Black Butte Fire was reported late last night and has burned about 11 acres.

Sarpy Hills Complex Burns Home, Forces Closure of US 212

The fires burning in southeastern Montana, now known as the Sarpy Hills Complex, burned a mobile home on the Crow Indian reservation just after midnight this morning.

Lame Deer Evacuations Underway

The town of Lame Deer, MT and the area north on Highway 39 to the reservation border is being evacuated due to approaching wildfires. Tribal and Bureau of Indian Affairs public safety personnel are assisting. Highway 39 is closed between Lame Deer and Colstrip due to fire activity.

Ending Elder Abuse Presentation

The Sheridan Senior Center will be hosting a community presentation this month entitled “Ending Elder Abuse”. The presentation will be given by Paul Greenwood, who's been the head of the Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit since 1996.
