The Search for a President

The University of Wyoming hired the consulting firm of Greenwood/Asher and Associates to assist in the search for a new president of the university. Monday night, Betty Asher with the consulting firm was in Sheridan to receive input during a public listening session.

Johnson County Attorney Responds To Payment Of Legal Fees

Sheridan Media reported last week that the Johnson County Commissioners had approved paying the legal fees incurred by County Assessor Cindy Rogers in connection with the proposed lease of water rights by the Wyoming Game and Fish and the possible tax ramifications that could have possibly stemmed from allowing the lease.

Over 240 Freshman from Sheridan High School gave their pledge to graduate during a ceremony Monday in the school auditorium. School District Two Superintendent Craig Dougherty explained to the students the importance of receiving their diploma.

Theatergoers can look forward to a few nights of death, love and vampires during a presentation of "Dracula." The performance is produced by Sheridan College's No Frills Theater Company and will take place November 15 - 17 at 7:30, at the WYO Theater.

Team Wyoming Peewee Hockey Tournament Winners

Team Wyoming Peewee Hockey won the Veteran's Day Peewee A Hockey Tournament in Casper over the weekend beating the Utah Regulators 3-2 in the championship game. Two players are from Sheridan and play on the Sheridan Hawks Peewee team as well: Blake Billings and Jack Chase (both 6th graders from Big Horn Middle School). Team Wyoming is a select team comprised of players from around Wyoming.

This weekend, a number of employees at Sweetheart Bakeries across the country began a ten-month strike, in protest of wage cuts and lack of participation in the company's new pension plans. Chris Foy has the story.

Penny Becker Celebration Has Been Postponed

This Wednesday's celebration event recognizing Penny Becker for over 13 years of service as executive director of Sheridan Travel and Tourism has been postponed due to a family medical emergency. The event will now take place Wednesday, December 5th.

As the new year approaches, so comes the time for the crowning of the new Miss Rodeo America. As 30 young women prepare to travel to Las Vegas, Americans have been closely watching the polls.
