Goldhammer Scholarship Fundraiser is Underway

Sunday afternoon and evening was a special time in Big Horn. The recently opened Big Horn Smokehouse and Saloon was the location for the 4th Annual Lane Goldhammer Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser.

Columbus Day Today

Today is Columbus Day and for some, it means a three-day weekend. Declared a federal holiday in 1937, it is observed on the second Monday in October and is a celebration of Christopher Columbus's arrival to North America on October 12th, 1492.

It's no news that this year is an election year and many considerate it one of the most important elections in many years. Voting gives us a voice in the process, an opportunity to be heard. A vote against something is just as important as a vote for it.

Leasable Lot with a Lot to View

Sunday's sunset as seen from the Sugarland Shopping Center's parking lot was a view to behold. Just think this view is from leasable retail property. A description of this 80,000 square foot of leasable area reads: "Future Spaces in a shopping center anchored by Albertsons. (Wal-Mart and Walgreens across the street.) 28,480 cars pass by a day making these highly visible spaces great locations.

100 Years of 4-H

This week is National 4-H Week and nine Sheridan County 4-H Clubs were out early Saturday morning in downtown Sheridan looking to decorate downtown business windows, all in support of 4-H.

It doesn't happen very often in Big Horn, especially on a Sunday afternoon. Both sides of its main thoroughfare, Johnson Street, was packed with parked cars, plus the side streets as well.

Johnson County Weekend Sports Wrap For October 8

This past weekend was busy for Johnson County's high school athletes.

It was Homecoming Week at Buffalo High School, and the football team didn't disappoint the home crowd as they took down the Lander Tigers 14-8 in a sloppy game in miserably cold and snowy conditions Friday night.

The Wright Connection for the Win

This set by Dylan Wright to her Senior Sister Mali Wright and the resultant hit for point #25 in game three Saturday garnered the Lady Broncs a 3-game sweep of the Lady Bisons from Cheyenne. It was the Lady Broncs final home meeting and Senior Day to boot as they swept the 3-games with wins of 25-7, 25-9 and 25-13.

Fourteen Workers Have Died in Wyoming So Far This Year

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A state official says 14 workers have died in Wyoming so far this year. State workplace epidemiologist Mack Sewell says four each died in agriculture and transportation, three died in oil and gas industry-related incidents, two in construction and one in general industry.

UW Libraries Look for Membership Into Greater Western Library Alliance

The University of Wyoming Libraries are one step closer to being accepted into the Greater Western Library Alliance. UW Dean of Libraries Maggie Farrell says Alliance officials liked what they saw during a recent visit to the university.
