Saturday afternoon at the Sheridan County Fair the miniature horses jumped into action and when the Junior - Miniature Jumping - was over Harley Johnson with her horse Gizmo and Dane Hansen with his horse Biscuit each took home a Champion Rosette. Harley is seen here with Gizmo going over the last jump as Judge Kim Ferguson from Wolf, Wyoming gets a close up view of the action.

Johnson County Fair Kicks Off Sunday in Buffalo

The 2011 Johnson County Fair will begin its week-long run Sunday, July 31 and wrap up Sunday, August 7.
Sunday, the dog show will begin at 8am, and open class exhibits will be accepted from 1 to 7pm. FFA exhibits are due at 4pm.

TROOPERS OUT / JETS PLAY TODAY / TRANSNATIONAL GOLF FINAL TOMORROW

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers were eliminated from the state American legion baseball tournament Friday losing to Casper 26-8.

The Troopers end the season with a record of 34-24.

JETS BASEBALL - The Sheridan Jets will play Bozeman, Montana at 10:00 in the junior Regional at Thorne-Rider stadium today.

Other games will be at 12:30 and 3:00 with the title game set for tomorrow.

TRANS-NATIONAL GOLF - The women's Transnational golf championship continues today at the Powder Horn with quarter final and semi final match play.

The balmy Friday night couldn't have been a better backdrop for Habitat for Humanities fundraiser called “On the Foundation.” It was the kick-off fundraiser for the construction of their new home on Thurmond Street.

Mediate wins Jim Murray Award for College Sportswriter of the Year

Jim Murray was a journalist who won national sportswriter of the year 14 times and was the one of the only sportswriters to ever win a Pulitzer Prize. Aspiring sportswriter Daniel Mediate of Sheridan may have just started chipping away at those accolades.
