Fire On Higby Road Destroys Single Family Dwelling

Goose Valley Fire Department received a call of a structure fire at 72 Higby Road in Sheridan County at approximately 1 am Wednesday. Goose Valley Fire Chief Bob Williams says that Sheridan Fire-Rescue were called in to assist with the fire.

It is almost time to fill the grandstand for the 81st running of the Sheridan WYO Rodeo and the Sankey Rodeo Company, celebrating its 31st year, appears to have rounded up some rodeo livestock. The Contract Sponsor for the stock contractor this year is the Powder Horn.

Setting Up for a 5:00 pm Opening

The carnival in conjunction with the 81st Sheridan WYO Rodeo is setting up for its 5 pm opening. The carnival will be open Wednesday through Saturday at 5:00 PM each day. Wristbands will be $25.00 each as they were last year. Wednesday is the buddy night, two wristbands for $24.00. New rides for this year are: Truckin USA (cute kid ride), a super slide and a star trooper.

Brock Bomar Headed to National Finals

Brock Bomar from Sheridan will be one of five athletes and the only runner from Wyoming who will be attending the North American Final in Hershey, PA in August. Brock is shown here with the first place ribbons he won at the Wyoming State Meet in the 50 and 200 meter dash. At the Hershey National meet Brock will be competing in the 9-10 age group of the 200 meter dash on August 6th.

The Kiwanis Duck Race will take place at its usual spot in Kendrick Park.

One of the annual traditions of Rodeo Friday in Sheridan is the Kiwanis Duck Race in Kendrick Park. Until Tuesday, it was undecided if the race would be held in Big Goose Creek in the park as it usually is.

Police Department Advises Parade Goers to Wait to put out Chairs

Each year parade goers scramble to get the best spots on Main to watch the parade. The Sheridan Police Department suggests that those putting out chairs early should wait until Friday morning.
