Sheridan a Distinctive Destination - Part II

Sheridan has been voted into the top 12 of the 2011 Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. On Friday Sheridanites and historical characters gathered in the Historic Sheridan Inn for a "Sheridan Area Tourism Celebration" where food, singing, displays, historic characters, tours and spoken words were plentiful.

SHS Student Chosen for Rotary Abroad

Maddy Clift will be attending high school her Junior year very near Mexico City, Mexico, through the Rotary Outbound Exchange program.

Sheridan High School Sophomore Maddy Clift has recently been selected as one of twenty students in the Cowboy Country region of Rotary International to study abroad during the 2011-2012 school year. She will be living with a family very near Mexico City, heading south of the border this August.

The City of Sheridan will be hosting a public workshop regarding the City Landfill this Thursday night. City Utilities Manager Dan Roberts explains that the meeting is for citizens that live nearby the proposed landfill expansion.

Five Sheridan Ice Figure Skaters competed at the 6th Annual Black Hills Gold Rush figure skating competition on Saturday, February 19 and Sunday February 20 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Kairstyn Holden (age 9) won 3 first place medals and 1 second place medal in Basic 6 level events

Katelyn Kayser (age 11) won 1 second place medal and 1 third place medal in Beginner level events.

Catherine Winnop (age 13) won 3 first place medals in Basic 8 level events.

Elizabeth Winnop (age 14) won 3 first place medals in Limited Beginner events.

The Daniels Fund has announced that they've awarded $1.1 million in grants to over 10 nonprofits in Wyoming. One of the recipients is Volunteers of America Northern Rockies in Sheridan.
