The Tongue River Academic Challenge team.

Thirteen teams from eight high schools around the state competed in the 15th Annual Wyoming Academic Challenge at Sheridan College Saturday with Sheridan High School taking third place honors.

Poll Question: Lottery in Wyoming?

Will 2011 be the year Wyoming legalizes a state lottery or Powerball?

Late last week it was reported through the Associated Press that the odds of Wyomingites getting their own lottery or joining a multi-state game like Powerball have improved.

CHAPS to Start Volunteer Training

Children, Horses and Adults in Partnership, or CHAPS, will be conducting three sets of volunteer training sessions for new volunteers and for returning volunteers who need to be recertified. CHAPS Director Sue Suddith explains.

Each class consists of two parts on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

LADY BRONCS GET THE JOB DONE IN GILLETTE

AND THE FINAL IS...........................

LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Lady Broncs won in Gillette for the first time in 19 years Friday night holding off a late Camel rally for a 72-69 win. Head coach Derek Bissitt says they knew it was going to be as tough night.

The Lady Broncs had a seven point lead but the Camels kept the pressure on making the Lady Broncs hit free throws to preserve the win and Bissitt says they made some big plays in the game's closing minute.

Bison Sports Weekend Wrap

The Buffalo Bison sports teams competed well again this past weekend, but results were mixed.
The basketball teams had just one game each this weekend as both teams traveled to Douglas to take on the Bearcats and Lady Bearcats.

Changes Proposed for West Tensleep Area

The Bighorn National Forest/Powder River Ranger District is taking public comment on proposed changes to the West Tensleep Area of the forest located about 45 miles west of Buffalo.

Woman Charged in Drug Case Appears in Court

One of two women charged in connection with an ongoing drug investigation made her initial appearance in court Friday.

Tonya Colette Sickler was arrested last week and charged with two counts of Conspiracy and two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, both felonies.

Public Meeting for Gravel Mine Monday in Buffalo

A meeting to gather public input on a proposed gravel mine south of Buffalo will be Monday night at the Johnson County Annex Building beginning at 6 pm.

Wyoming Construction Materials applied for the air quality permit for the mine, a requirement by the Department of Environmental Quality before the mine can be made operational.
