The Sheridan Elks Hoop-Shoot is Sunday at the Hoffman dome

The local Hoop Shoot for Sheridan Lodge #520 will be this
Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at 2PM at the Sheridan College Golden
Dome. The Elks Hoop Shoot is for boys and girls ages 8
to 13.

PE teachers at area schools have conducted free throw
shoot-offs and the school champions from all the area schools
will compete for the right to advance to the District Hoop
Shoot which will also be here in Sheridan on Jan. 29.

IF THERE ARE ANY KIDS WHO DID NOT GET TO SHOOT AT THEIR
SCHOOL and would like to participate, be at the Golden Dome
at 1:15 on Sunday for a shoot off before the main

The newly elected Sheridan County officials were sworn in during a brief ceremony in the 4th Judicial District Courtroom Monday morning. Prior to the swearing in, Judge John Fenn told those gathered.

Matt Mead Set for Inauguration in Cheyenne

Matt Mead officially becomes Wyoming's next governor today.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Matt Mead is set to be sworn into office as the 32nd governor of Wyoming. Mead, a 48-year-old Republican, will be sworn in Monday morning at the Cheyenne Civic Center. A reception will follow at the Wyoming Capitol.

Mayor-Elect Ready for New Office

Buffalo's Mayor-elect Randy Dyess is ready for the challenge of taking over the city when he and other city officials are sworn into office during Tuesday's City Council meeting. Dyess said he is up to the task.

The Johnson County Commissioners will have their first meeting of 2011 on Tuesday, but there will be some County business to take care of Monday, January 3 as the newly-elected officials will be sworn into office in ceremonies beginning at 9 am.

Polar Bears Make Annual Plunge

Those that lined up to junp in Lake DeSmet at the annual Polar Bear Plunge

The annual Polar Bear Plunge took place Saturday, January 1st at Lake DeSmet. There was a change of venue this year from the traditional Monument Access Boat Ramp to the Main Boat Ramp on the south end of the lake.
