Searchers Recover Body of Grand Teton Climber

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities plan to analyze the harness and rope used by a climber who died after falling about 2,000 feet from a cliff during a thunderstorm in Grand Teton National Park. Searchers found the body of 21-year-old Brandon Oldenkamp, of Sanborn, Iowa on Thursday. His body has been taken to the Teton County coroner.

District 2 Summer School

At the Sheridan County School District 2 July board meeting Wednesday evening, Director of District Curriculum, Scott Stults, gave a report about the Summer School programs for this year.

168 5th grade students attended summer school June 7th – July 2nd, receiving literacy instruction in the earlier morning and math instruction until noon five days each week.

It's All About Customer Satisfaction

The Sheridan County Fair Board is tightening their budget belts for the next year.

Economic times are tough for everyone and the Sheridan County Fair Board is also feeling the pinch. At their meeting Thursday night it was announced that their 2010-2011 operating budget for the fairgrounds is being cut. That cut amounts to $75,000 less than the half-million dollar budget they had to work with last year.

RENEW and CDSI Question Commissioners Claims About Grant Allocation

We've now heard the story that a $50,000 grant was awarded to CASA by the Sheridan County Commission this week. At least we've heard part of the story. More questions have been raised since our initial report about why CASA received all of the funds, while the applications from RENEW and the Center for Dispute Solutions were both dismissed.

YOUTH BASEBALL - The State Little League tournament is on going in Riverton team Sheridan is 4-0 in the tournament and will play in the Semi-finals tonight.

They went unbeaten in pool play and advanced in the bracket yesterday beating Gillette 16-6. Tonight Sheridan plays Torrington in the Semi finals

The Sheridan 13 year old Babe Ruth team is in the winners bracket of their state tournament being played in Sheridan at Redle field.

A Pretrial Conference was held in 4th Judicial District Court Thursday for Montana resident Kevin Fuller, who is charged with kidnapping his girlfriend, Dawn Turner August, 7th 2009 in Sheridan. Prosecuting Attorney Matt Redle's motion for a continuance was reluctantly granted by Judge John Fenn, as the two day trial is now set to begin October 4th.

GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - Rescue workers have found the body of a missing climber who fell over a cliff during a thunderstorm while climbing a mountain at Grand Teton National Park. Park spokeswoman Bobbie Visnovske says searchers on a helicopter found the body of 21-year-old Brandon Oldenkamp on Thursday morning.

New Child Advocacy Director Proves the Importance of “Showing Up”

The new Child Advocacy Services of the Big Horns Executive Director made her debut this week, accepting a $50,000 grant from the Department of Family Services.
