Dayton Days Parade - A Hometown Happening

A horse of the best colors walks in the 2010 Dayton Days parade.

There were fire trucks, a band, plenty of horses and old cars, candy was tossed from a variety of floats and of course, there were those smattering of waving, grinning, one-more-vote garnering politicians filling in the gaps. It was the Dayton Days Parade held this past Saturday.

Sheridan Seed Co. beat Century 21 in a very close game ending in an 8-7
score.

Warren, Wayne Garrison, Bob Brotherton, John Smith of Pheasants Forever.

Runners-up Picture, Century 21: Agustin Arellano, Roni Duke, Weston
Gracida, Putter Goodwin, John Smith of Pheasants Forever.
MVP was Kim Warren.
Best Playing Pony was "Peanutbutter" owned and played by Weston Gracida.

TROOPERS HEADED TO STATE:PLAY LARAMIE IN THE OPENER WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Troopers Qualify for state

JETS BASEBALL - The Sheridan Jets won two and lost two at the “B” American legion state baseball tournament in Casper.They opened with a 13-7 win over Laramie then lost against Cheyenne 9-6, they came back and beat Cody 18-10 before being eliminated by the Casper “Drillers” 10-1.

Cheyenne took the championship beating Casper 9-2.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers lost 13-11 vs Powell in their district tournament opener then turned it on winning four in a row and qualifying for the state tournament which begins Wednesday at Thorne-rider stadium.

Wildfire Season on Crow Reservation

Two helicopters like this one were part of the response to the Spike Fire in the Pryor Mountains on the Crow Reservation.

Officials with the Bureau of Indian Affairs Crow Agency & Aviation released a report Sunday on a three-acre timber fire on the remote eastern slopes of the Crow Reservation’s Pryor Mountains. The blaze heralds the start of serious fire season on the Reservation.  Lightning struck in the area about four days before.

Poll Question: Commission Vote on Countywide Inspections

The Sheridan County Commission voted not to establish a countywide building and electrical inspection process.

Even though a positive recommendation came from the Sheridan County Planning Commission to encourage the establishment of a countywide building and electrical inspection process for new construction, the Sheridan County Commission last week voted unanimously (minus one vote as Commissioner Cram was out of town) not to implement such a process at this time.
