The basketball court and playground on the north end of Thorne-Rider Park in Sheridan will be getting a makeover soon. Sheridan Recreation District Director Richard Wright.

Former Marathon Oil Contractor Sentenced

48-year-old Sheridan resident Mark McGregor was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson for his involvement in a scheme to defraud Marathon Oil Company. McGregor received 33 months of prison time to be followed by 3 years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $2,450,000 in restitution to Marathon Oil.

Sheridan County Commissioners Vote on Building Permit Proposal

During their regular bi-monthly meeting this Tuesday, Sheridan County Commissioners voted on the proposal to require county-wide building code and electrical inspections. On a 4 to 0 vote, the Commissioners voted not to adopt any new regulations.

The Sheridan City Council received a financial update from Treasurer Jennifer Reed at their meeting Monday night. Reed informed the Council that the sales and use tax payment has been received for July, 2010.

Lady Bronc Youth Volleyball Camp

The Sheridan Lady Bronc Volleyball team will be hosting a volleyball camp Wednesday, August 11th for girls grades 4th, 5th, 6th.

The camp will run in two sessions from 8:30a-11:30a & 1:30p -3:30p at the Sheridan county "Y"

The Cost is $40/camper which includes T-shirt

The Camp instructors will be the Sheridan Lady Bronc Coaches and players.

They will take registration the morning of the camp.

The JD Mullinax Tennis tournament is coming up

2010 J.D Mullinax Memorial Tennis Tournament

Registration: Registration will be held at the Sheridan Recreation District Office from July 8th till August 5th. This event is for youth and adult players competing in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Cost: $20.00 per person for the first event, and $5.00 more for a second event.

Additional Information: The draw will be posted by 4:00pm on August 6th. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams in each division.

Military Voting Made Easier

Making voting more fair and easier for military personnel and overseas U.S. employees is being implemented for the 2010 elections.

WYOMING NEWS SERVICE, Cheyenne, WY – Wyoming now has a model law to follow to make it easier for military and overseas U.S. residents to cast their vote in the 2010 Primaries and General Election. In the past, those in both categories have had challenges receiving their voting ballots early enough to get them filled out and returned in time to be counted with those stateside.

Last week, media outlets around the state reported on a letter of character reference that Gubernatorial Republican candidate Ron Micheli wrote at the request of Ty McDowell's defense team. McDowell, who has come be known as the Craigslist Rapist, recently received a 60-year sentence for raping a Casper woman in December of 2009.
