Today is national "Kick Butts Day," an annual celebration of youth leadership and activism in the fight against tobacco use. Youth are sending two powerful messages on this day: they want the tobacco companies to stop targeting them with marketing for cigarettes and other tobacco products, and they want elected leaders to do more to protect them from tobacco.
Five years ago, a clinic opened across from Sheridan Memorial Hospital to provide uninsured and underinsured Sheridan County residents between the ages of 19 and 64 the opportunity to receive medical care at little to no cost.
In the summer of 2009, the City of Sheridan requested that the Wyoming Water Development Commission perform a study on the need for a supplemental water supply for Sheridan. The first task of the study was to evaluate water usage and demands for the City and the SAWS system.

CHEYENNE, (AP) - Snowpack across Wyoming stands at 70 percent of average and water managers are predicting low spring runoff. The Natural Resources Conservation Service in Casper released its weekly snowpack measurements on Monday. It's the first assessment of the water in Wyoming snowpack this spring season.
Whitney Benefits has announced a $250,000 grant to support the Green House Living for Sheridan project. The Whitney grant will enable Green House to meet the March 31st deadline to raise $891,000 for a Wyoming Business Council grant that will cover infrastructure costs of the project. Green House President Doug Osborn said that the grant will support a unique partnership with Sheridan College that will give students additional educational opportunities while also leading to a new level of care for local senior citizens.
The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced the lineup for this year's benefit that will take place in mid April. Hospital Foundation Executive Director Ada Kirven says that they are excited to have not one, but two local talents this year.
