Authorities Encourage Residents To Be Alert But Not To Worry

In the aftermath of yesterday’s shooting death, many Sheridan residents have concerns for their safety. Authorities are out in force and will certainly be on a heightened state of alert for a while, even after the current homicide case is closed.

Wyoming Legislators Weigh In On Kennedy Death

The death of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy will have an affect on those far outside his home state of Massachusetts. Wyoming’s senators expressed their feelings about the senator upon learning of his passing. Wyoming Senator John Barrasso says he will never forget the warm welcome Senator Kennedy gave him when he was first sworn in.

Governor Freudenthal Talks About Keeping Kids In School

This year both Sheridan High School and Fort MacKenzie High School failed to meet Federal Average Yearly Progress goals for graduation rates. Governor Dave Freudenthal says that keeping kids in school can affect more than just the students.

Police Make Arrests In Sheridan Homicide Investigation

Police have made three arrests in connection with the murder of a local businessman yesterday in Sheridan. Sheridan Police Chief Mike Card says the investigation will continue. 19-year-old Dennis Poitra, Jr., a 16-year-old Sheridan male, and a 15-year-old Sheridan male were all in custody by 8:30 last night. The names of the juvenile suspects cannot be released.

Hospital Board Approves Several Plans Focused On Quality

Sheridan Memorial Hospital is continuously working on ways that they can improve the quality of care that is offered to their patients. Wednesday night the Hospital Board approved the Quality and Infection Control Plans. Hospital Quality Services Manager Lajune Bacon says the Quality Plan covers a lot of ground.

SHS GOLF - The Sheridan Bronc golfers picked up their 2nd team win of the season by winning the Gillette Invitational yesterday. The Broncs totaled 616, out-distancing 2nd place Riverton by 13 shots. Two Broncs finished in the Top 10: Kamerin Allen was 2nd and Cameron Lindell was 9th. Next up for the Broncs is the Laramie Invitational which will be played today and tomorrow.
