Christmas Wish Campaign Helps Those Less Fortunate During the Holidays

The annual Sheridan Media Christmas Wish campaign is in place to help those that may have fallen on hard times during the holiday season. One of the organizers of the campaign, Margo Heck says that if you like to shop, volunteers are always needed.

Annual Trees Of Love Lighting Ceremony To Take Place At Hospital First Sunday In December

The 22nd annual tree lighting ceremony for the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Christmas Trees of Love will be Sunday December 6th at 4:30pm in the front lobby of the hospital. Lights can be purchased with a donation of $5.00 now through December.

Turkey Trot Runners Work Up An Appetite on Thanksgiving

The weather couldn’t have been much better in late November for the annual Turkey Trot run in Kendrick Park on Thanksgiving morning. Over 330 runners participated this year, collecting a trailer full of food for the Sheridan Community Shelter. The Shelter is run by Volunteers of America Montana and Wyoming.

Hit and run suspect pleads not guilty

GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A man accused of smashing into at least 10 vehicles at a Gillette dealership, ramming one of them into a building and causing thousands of dollars in damage before driving away from the scene has pleaded not guilty. Alfredo Ortega was arraigned in District Court this week for felony destruction of property stemming from the August episode.

Wyoming Supreme Court Has Denied To Review A Death Row Inmate Case

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Supreme Court has denied a request from the state's lone death row inmate to review his case. The state Supreme Court on Monday ordered District Judge David B. Park of Casper to issue a new death warrant against inmate Dale Wayne Eaton.

Newspaper Lawsuit With City Of Sheridan Over Police Chief Has Preliminary Injunction Hearing

The City of Sheridan has refused to release the names of candidates for the position of police chief. In response, the Sheridan Press filed a lawsuit against the city to get those names. The matter came before 4th Judicial District Court Judge John Fenn on Wednesday morning.

HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT BASKETBALL - The Sheridan Lions Club will host their annual basketball tournament at the Hoffman Dome Friday and Saturday. Games will be played at 1, 3, 5 and 7 pm both days. The Lady Generals will play at 5:00, and the Generals at 7:00. Tickets can be purchased at the door -- all-day adult tickets are $6 and all-day student tickets are $3.

Mourners Bury Wyoming Soldier Killed in Iraq

WRIGHT, Wyo. (AP) - Mourners remembered the sacrifice of Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Zorn as the Wyoming soldier was laid to rest. The Gillette News-Record reports that more than 300 people attended funeral services for Zorn on Tuesday morning.

Fire at University of Wyoming Stadium Construction Site

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A fire in the luxury suites under construction at the University of Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium caused minor damage and won't delay the project by much.
