Opening the Sheridan Civic Theatre Guild’s 54th season will be “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds,” written by Paul Zindel and directed by Malcolm Wallop. This is Paul Zindel’s best known play, winning a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1971.
STATE TENNIS - The Bronc and Lady Bronc tennis teams opened play yesterday at the State Tennis Tournament. All players are still alive as Day 2 gets underway. The Lady Broncs sit tied for 1st place with Jackson. After the first day, Emily Holst and Maria Dernalova both advanced to the semi-finals in the Singles.
It’s homecoming weekend at Sheridan High School but SHS Principal Dirlene Wheeler will be conspicuously absent from many of the festivities. Wheeler has her own homecoming celebration to attend where she is the guest of honor. She is one of five graduates of Chadron State College graduates with successful careers that are being given distinguished alumni awards tomorrow.
Next week is National Fire Prevention week and the Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department is planning events throughout the week. This is one of the times throughout the year when firefighters get to spend time with local school kids. Sheridan Fire Marshal Brian Songer says that over 500 kids are expected to tour the Fire Station next week.
A 20-year-old Sheridan man pleaded guilty to burglary charges in 4th Judicial District Court yesterday. In early August, Kyle Giacometto broke into Big Sky Cycles on Main Street and took a Kawasaki motorcycle.
